Hi folks, J.G. Wentworth here. Gas prices are getting ridiculous, aren’t they? In many parts of the country they’re already over four dollars a gallon – and getting higher all the time!
Here at J.G. Wentworth, we pride ourselves on getting structured settlement or annuity holders the most value out of their future payments. But our affection for our customers goes deeper than that. We know folks all around the country are struggling financially, and want to do our part to help save them as much money as we can, in as many parts of their life as possible. So with that said, here are some great tips we found on how you can save money at the pump.
– Find an app that will tell you the cheapest local prices for gas in your area
Great apps like GasBuddy, TripTik, and iGasUp frequently update the latest and best gas prices
– Drive without your air-conditioning on
Unfortunately driving with AC also means you’re using more gas. Whenever possible, try to drive with your air-conditioning off
– Learn how to brake and accelerate properly
Most driving involves a great deal of stopping and starting. You’ll use the least gas when you drive smoothly and coast to a stop, rather than breaking at the last second.
– Drive slower
Similar to the above tip, is to generally drive slower. At very high speeds, you use more gas than you do at lower ones.
– Find the best route
Like “cheap gas” apps, “best route” apps are designed to give you the latest updates on local traffic and congestion, and tell you the fastest way to your destination.
– Keep your tires inflated at their proper levels
Poorly inflated tires translate to worse gas mileage and higher monthly gas costs.
– Keep your car properly maintained
Using the right motor oil and air filters will also increase your car’s efficiency.
The bottom line? – Driving safely and smartly will help keep your money where it belongs: in your own pocket. And with gas prices so high, can you really afford to drive any other way?
