An Interview with Grant Eckert, Vice President of Marketing and Brand Manager at J.G. Wentworth

In today’s blog post, we would like to introduce you to Grant Eckert, Vice President of Marketing and Brand Manager at J.G. Wentworth. We’ve asked him to talk a bit about what led him to join J.G. Wentworth and how J.G. Wentworth helps customers around the country get the money they need out of their structured settlement or annuity payments sooner.

Would you mind telling us a little about your work experience prior to joining J.G. Wentworth?

I’d be happy to. In my previous job, I was Director of Marketing for Medical Guardian, a medical alert company. In less than a year, we grew from 20 employees to 120, and built up our brand recognition and web presence to a level none of our competitors could match. Before that, I was a Digital Marketing Director for both Barclaycard, an affiliate of Barclays Bank, and Harte-Hanks, Inc., a marketing and advertising firm.

What made you join the J.G. Wentworth team?

When the opportunity to join J.G. Wentworth presented itself, I was terrifically excited. The chance to join an established company that isn’t just a major player in the industry. but in many ways pioneered it – well, that immediately seemed too good to pass up. And the more I learned about J.G. Wentworth, the more excited I became. 

Look, we’re not just a pioneer in the structured settlement and annuity payment purchasing business, and we’re not just an industry leader with the most experience – in my opinion, we’re also the best at what we do. We can offer our customers the most competitive discount rates on the market – and then get that money to them in the most efficient way possible!

So what is most exciting about J.G. Wentworth?

Frankly, I really like how much our company helps people. Think about it: most people call us looking for money for really important things like school, a car, even a home. This is money that means a great deal to these people and their families, and they are all looking for a seamless, pain-free experience that will get that money to them as quickly as possible, through a transparent process. That’s exactly what J.G. Wentworth does – and why I’m so proud to be working here.

What are your future plans in terms of getting the word out about J.G. Wentworth?

I’m glad you asked that. What’s so interesting today, as opposed to the past, is how integrated media campaigns have become. In the ‘good old days’, if you wanted to promote a company, you would think about television, radio, some billboards – and that’s basically about it. But today, spreading the word about your company goes far beyond television and radio, now it’s everything and everywhere – the Internet, mobile phones, tablets – all of which we want J.G. Wentworth to become a major player in. 

Our audience is evolving and we have to be in position to change with it. Yes, we’re already reaching large numbers of folks with our marketing strategies – but what about the people out there with structured settlement or annuity payments who still don’t realize they could get that money now and not have to wait for it!  That’s our goal, and just another reason why I’m so excited to come to work every day.

If you could tell customers out there just one thing about J.G. Wentworth, what would it be?

I guess it would be to reinforce the idea that J.G. Wentworth’s nationwide reputation for excellence has truly been earned over these past 21 years, that it’s not something we take lightly, but instead a quality of our company that we take extremely seriously each and every day. 

We are truly the biggest and most experienced company in this market. We make our customers great offers and deliver that money to them. We are knowledgeable, we are agile, and we are experienced, and these are all qualities that have only come through hard work and our unyielding belief in the importance of what we do for people around the country, who call us looking for help.
