Meet Our Customers, Part 3: David Hotz Sells His Structured Settlement Payments to Take Care of His Family

Hi folks, J.G. Wentworth here. In today’s blog we’d like to tell you about David Hotz, from Romulus, Michigan. While David is just one of thousands of satisfied J.G. Wentworth customers, his story is truly unique, and one truly worth sharing.

When David was just one year old, his father tragically died in a swimming pool. A structured settlement was then awarded to David in 1979 – making it one of the first structured settlement awards ever. He was scheduled to receive $1500 a month for the rest of his life, with large lump sum payments to be given out every five years.

David was never intending to sell his payments. In his own words: “I take care of my mom. She has Lupus and Addison’s Disease, which is a rare form of rheumatoid arthritis. She lives with me and I have an eight-year-old son. [Also] I was in business with the former partner; he left and I had to cover the expenses of the business.”

Once David realized he needed to sell his structured settlement payments for cash, the question then became: to which company? Again, in his own words: “Why did I go with J.G. Wentworth?
